What’s in Your Closet?

Some people have been buying sneakers since the old days, i.e. before we were born, others may have just starting buying shoes and then there’s me. I have been in and out of this sneaker game but I am in it now more than ever before! We are going to take it back to my first pair of Jordans in 2013, which was the Cool Grey Pink or Fusion Pink Air Jordan 13s. I got those shoes before they came out and I thought I was hot s**t. I rocked them in my early college days, wrapped them up with umbrella bags when it was raining outside and took the best care of them. Eventually, I ended up selling them but that was my first pair of Jordans and I was sold since then.

This was around the same time I started working at Adidas. Man oh man, what a time that was. Prior to working there, I was not really an Adidas fan because Jordan had me in a choke hold BUT when I started seeing what we were getting and the prices we could get them at, my Adidas section in my closet started to expand. Within those 2 1/2 years, I probably bought close to 50 or 60 pairs of shoes. To most, that doesn’t seem like a lot but to me, it was. I got Rasta Shell-toes, Jeremy Scott’s, Equipments, Yoda Top Tens, the list goes on and on.

Shortly after my time of buying Adidas, I started working at Footaction in 2016 and it was downhill from that point forward! Things that I never thought I would get like Foamposites and Reebok classics now became the thing that I was looking more into. You would think that working at a shoe store, you would cop everything that comes out but it was the shoes that sat on the shelf that got me. Working 5 days a week and starring at the same shoes all the time got me to liking it and eventually purchasing them. I got a few grails there like the Top 3 Air Jordan 1’s, which had to be, hands down, one of the GREATEST purchases while I was there. I got my Mocha’s, my Royal’s and my Bred toes just to name a few.

Jordan 1s would have to be one my favorite silhouettes, if you couldn’t tell but my favorite sneaker that I have is my Jordan 7 Bordeaux. I got them in 2015 and they are comfortable, sturdy and lasted me 7 years until the upper started lifting from the sole. Saddest day by far. Another fav for me is my Maroon 6’s, also from 2015. Just a classic shoe. Very sleek, simple and no extra fluff. TrueType a timeless classic. My favorites also include the Blue Moon’s, All-star 1s, UNC 6s, Doernbecher 9’s, Gamma 11s from 2013, and the Womens Satin Shattered Backboards. All amazing shoes in my personal option.

Working with shoes is both a blessing and a curse all in one. You get what you want, in most cases, but you also get what you didn’t really want but because you look at that shoe every day, it starts to grow on you. This is pretty much what happened to me. I worked 4-5 days a week so I saw the same shoes over and over agin and it just became something that I picked up. If I had to take an educated guess, I would say my collection has roughly 250 pairs of shoes. From Jordan to Adidas, Nike to Puma and Reebok to Vans, there’s a few of each. I used to be specific and a one brand girl but when I started branching out, my eyes opened to so much more. Now, whatever I feel looks good is what I get. #sneakerlover <3
